SVision and Nikon sign SVCell license agreement
Nikon selected SVCell as the analysis software for Nikon’s BioStation CT
SVision LLC, an emerging leader in the use of advanced learning technologies for broad image recognition applications, announced today that Nikon Corporation will begin distributing SVision’s SVCell™ together with Nikon’s BioStation CT, a fully integrated cell culture observation and monitoring system. For this purpose, SVCell will be sold under the Nikon brand using the name “CT Analysis Software SV”.
CT Analysis Software SV will be used to quantitatively analyze time-lapse, phase and fluorescence images acquired on the BioStation CT. The analysis will be valuable to scientists in re-generative or clinical medicine, drug discovery or bio-research to conduct quantitative cell culture quality assurance and long term label free assays. Major applications include cell proliferation, cell counting, cell migration, fluorescence expression, apoptosis, cell division, neurite outgrowth and many more by teaching.
Unlike most microscopy image analysis software on the market, SVCell has advanced, patented learning technologies and teaching interfaces that enable scientists and technicians to quickly and easily create recipes for automated analyses with performance on par with custom software, using a simple “teach by example” interface – guided by their biological knowledge rather than image processing expertise. This is useful because not every assay or cell type is the same, and the needs of the research community and industry cannot be completely anticipated by the manufacturer.
“This marks a major milestone for SVCell’s market entry, and we are very pleased to work together with such a high caliber partner as the Nikon Corporation,” said Dr. James Lee, president of SVision and a world-renowned pioneer in automated cytology. “Working together we have validated SVCell for many challenging assays. It proves that SVCell can indeed be taught to deliver performance at the highest level. In addition, we feel that SVCell recipe teaching has fundamentally changed the way application development is done. It has dramatically lowered the cost, risk, time and effort required to develop and update novel and cutting edge microscopy imaging applications.”
About SVision LLC
SVision develops and markets the next generation microscopy image analysis software, SVCell. SVCell enables scientists and technicians to teach recipes for high performance image segmentation, optimized measurement and accurate pattern classification. The teaching is fast, easy and intuitive, and the taught recipe can be easily updated to match evolving experimental protocols. The validated recipe can then be executed in a high throughput imaging assay with fast, accurate and robust performance comparable to custom written algorithms or “turnkey” systems.
SVision is a technological innovator with 30 issued and 17 pending US patents in high-speed image processing, pattern recognition, machine vision, automatic learning, spatial reasoning and data mining. Since 1999, SVision has been pioneering the use of learning technology in a broad range of practical image recognition applications. SVCell development is partially funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) under multiple Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) programs.
