Detecting, analyzing and understanding how cells, organelles and particles move in 3D environments is essential for a wide range of research fields. Moreover, normal cell division and cell differentiation are both critical to the development and homeostasis of most biological systems including humans. Abnormal cell division and uncontrolled cell differentiation are critical factors in a variety of conditions including cancer, immunological disorders and developmental defects.

Aivia 7 introduces a state-of-the-art 3D object tracking approach which builds on the 3D object detection recipe launched in Aivia 6 and seamlessly blends the advantages of motion and intensity based object tracking. See our ASCB|EMBO 2017 poster describing underlying technology here.

In addition, Aivia 7 automatically traces cell lineages and displays them in the 3D View and in two plot types (Lineage and Flow plot). Both plots are synchronized with the 3D View, the Track Editor (see below) as well as the Spreadsheet thus allowing the user to easy inspection of the results, determine their accuracy as well as relevance.

After tracking the user has a myriad of track display options which include independent controls for tracks, anchors (i.e. the track points), trends (i.e. the vectors that indicate overall direction for each track). Each display option has its own size/scale and color controls to ensure you can get the perfect visualization output for your presentations and publications.

Aivia 7 offers you a complete and highly intuitive Track Editor so you can build on the results automatically generated. This way you have the option to get to the perfect result by leveraging your trained eye.

The editor allows you to create multiple Workspaces where you can interact with and edit a subset of tracks/lineages without being distracted by all the items you are not interested in editing. Making an edit consists of a single click-drag-n-drop. Aivia will ask you what kind of edit you want to do before completing it. The edits automatically update the 3D View, the Spreadsheet, the Charts and all the Track Editor Workspaces. The track editor supports undo/redo - sometimes a big time saver.

Aivia 7.0 goes one step beyond allowing its users to explore many hundreds of thousands of objects of interest in real time. We have accomplished this by: a) drastically optimizing the data flow from the hard disk to the GPU, b) maximizing the reuse of points needed to generate a surface and c) intelligent data caching. Together, these items allow Aivia users to render and interact with hundreds of thousands of objects per time point. With Aivia 7.0 you will save up 98% of the time previously needed to render 3D surface objects!
