James was the technical founder and Chief Technical Officer of NeoPath, Inc., a medical device company created the world’s only FDA approved fully automated cervical cancer primary screener that is being used worldwide for routine cancer screening. James was with NeoPath before its start-up in 1989, through IPO, secondary offering, until its acquisition by BD Diagnostics in 1999. Altogether NeoPath raised over US$150 million from the venture and equity markets. He was with Boeing High Technology Center from 1986 to 1989.

James is an inventor of 87 issued US patents and numerous international patents and an author of over 100 technical publications. He is a winner of Boeing Invention Award and a winner of the First Invention Award from Taiwan’s Ministry of Education. He has a Ph.D. in computer vision and a three-year NIH post-doctoral training in bioengineering. He is a graduate from the AEA/Stanford Executive Institute Program.
